The idea for the discovery bag came from childcareland.com. I had everything in the house to make this, so I thought I would try one even though I didn't think it looked like that much fun. I was wrong. :)
My lighting was weird, but this is what the bag looks like when filled.
What you need:
*Hair gel (preferably clear, but I had a free bottle and it was blue)
*A clear plastic sandwich baggy
*Gems, glitter, buttons, beads, confetti, rubber bands, anything tiny you think won't break the bag
*Tape (I used packing tape)
Directions:
Put all your tiny items in the bag. Squeeze about 1/4 cup or so of hair gel into the bag. mix it all around. Gently squeeze the air out of the bag, lay it out and level it, making sure you have enough gel, adding more if needed, then seal the bag. Tape the seal so it doesn't leak.

Explore!
Here's what we did:
Close your eyes. Squeeze the bag. Describe how it feels.
(squishy, cold, smooth, lumpy)
My little guy said, "It feels great. It feels just pretty cool."
~~~~~~~~~
Make a triangle with your finger.
~~~~~~~~~
Make the letter G. (We were working on G this week.)
~~~~~~~~~
Find 2 green things. (Green starts with G!) Yes, they really were green, not blue. ;)
~~~~~~~~~
Make a flower!
~~~~~~~~~
Find your favorite color!
~~~~~~~~~
Make a circle around your favorite color.
~~~~~~~~~
Line up 5 beads!
~~~~~~~~~
Squeeze together a snowman!
("But he isn't a snowman. A snowman is white, Mommy.")
~~~~~~~~~
Find (squeeze together) 2 rubber bands.
~~~~~~~~~
Make the number 2!
~~~~~~~~~
Check it out with the magnifying glass!
You can see that there are endless possibilities with this little discovery bag. :) What will you do with yours?
