So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Bible Study:
1 Samuel 24:1-22
Saul was trying to kill David. He went to look for David in the Crags of the Wild Goats. David had the chance to kill Saul, but only cut off the corner of his robe. David knew Saul was anointed by God so he trusted God, instead of men, to deal with him.

Geography:
Desert - a dry, sandy wilderness
Crag - a steep, rough rock
Cave - a hollow place in a hill or underground
Iree's interpretation with oatmeal
~~~~~~~~~
Poetry and Rhymes:
T copied "The Star-Spangled Banner"
We also played this on youtube and sang along.
~~~~~~~~~
Reading:
We learned so much this week about the life of ants. We also learned about ladybugs and other creatures.
~~~~~~~~~
Storytime:
We are only a few chapters into Pagoo. :( We are not enjoying this book at all. Mommy has chosen to have T do more narration with her reading instead of doing this particular storytime. We do lots of other smaller read-alouds.
~~~~~~~~~
Language Arts:
We have done a mixture of CLE LA2 and Rod and Staff English 2. We worked on common nouns vs. proper nouns, as well.
~~~~~~~~~
Science:
God made fruit trees.
Fruits are made mostly of water. We did a test to check if a food is made of mostly water or fat.
We put pieces of foods in on our paper and waited several minutes. They we removed them and waited several more minutes for the food spots to dry. If you turned the paper over, you could see very greasy areas where the cheese and butter were. The fruits may have left a small spot, but no grease, revealing that the strawberry and banana were mostly water, while the cheese and butter are mostly fat.
We also learned about stars!
God made the stars.
Stars are always shining, but because the sun is so bright during the day, we cannot see the stars during the daytime. Did you know that stars shine through the atmosphere, bending the light, which causes the twinkling we see?
T also did a little creative writing and wrote a poem about stars.
~~~~~~~~~
Math:
We are in constant review. We are also doing division. T scored a 99% on her math test this week. The only thing she missed was the cents sign on one of her problems.
~~~~~~~~~
Spelling:
Lots of review!
~~~~~~~~~
History:
We read so much in this unit about the colonial days! By General George Washington's request, Betsy Ross designed one new flag for the thirteen colonies. We reviewed all thirteen colonies and their locations. We learned about the Redcoats and we practiced some military commands.
Iree made a flag with a square cookie and frosting.
The colors of our flag and what they stand for:
RED - bravery
WHITE - purity
BLUE - justice
(Irelynn's interpretation of the colonial flag)
There were 13 stripes in the flag Betsy Ross made. There were 13 stars, one for each colony.
We added to our timeline.
