Heart of Dakota ~ Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory ~ Unit 20 review
Bible verse:
Bible Study:
2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
This passage reminds Mommy of a story about someone at a new job. He noticed some people worked very hard, while others wasted their time visiting their coworkers and gossiping, instead of being diligent. I think of how the Lord looks at this. We should all be working hard to please God, not "working hard" at being lazy.

History:
We actually got "The Stories of the Pilgrims" back down off the shelf on Monday! We read about children in the colonies and how they were either schooled at home or in a schoolhouse.
Then we moved to "Boys and Girls of Colonial Days" and read about a boy named Percival who earned a red ribbon for good conduct. He and his friend, Deliverance, were walking home from school together. They were approached by an Indian named Chief Big Hawk who wanted to take Deliverance back to his tribe with him and hold her for ransom. Percival used his quick wit and gave Big Hawk his red ribbon. Then he and Deliverance ran away like rabbits!

Artistic Expression:
T's interpretation of Percival's red ribbon.

Reading:
We are loving the nature reader! We have learned a lot about honeybees and other "bugs" in this unit. What interesting creatures God made! We learned the cicada lives underground for 17 years!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Language Arts:
We were supposed to start English 2 next year, but we have already been through a lot of the same information already. So, we decided to look it over and start it now. It's going to be a ton of review, but Mommy has seen that Iree has learned so much and retained this information. Who cares if we are doing it all over again. Solidify! :) We are doing most of this orally.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spelling:
Long A words spelled with "ai". T scored 100% on her test but Mommy forgot to take a picture.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Math:
We worked on number families to 14, multiplication and addition, "factors" and "products", mixed numbers, measurement, time, money, thinking and listening skills, and much more.
We also hit lesson 100 in this unit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Science:
We did an experiment showing how light changes and scatters color on the Earth during sunset.
We also learned how rabbits are known for their quickness. Did you know a hummingbird can flap its wings 700 times in 10 seconds? T cannot.
:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Storytime:
We have 2 chapters left of "The Railway Children".
We focused on the Godly character trait: loyalty. We also focused on the story element: prediction.
Poetry and Rhymes:
Not a ton of pics this week. I didn't have my phone next to me most of the time to be able to snap them. It was a no nonsense, "git er done" week. We were able to get everything done in less than 2 hours each day. That's a record for us!
We had a WONDERFUL week and hope you did, too!
