Today we did pumpkin observations. First we watched a PowerPoint presentation created by Tabitha at www.growinguphomeschooled.com. Then we gathered our supplies!
Then we weighed our pumpkin. It weighed a little over 2 1/2 pounds.
Next we measured our pumpkin's circumference.
It was almost 19 inches around!
We counted 19 ridges in our pumpkin.
Daddy cut our pumpkin open.
We observed the stem, skin, pulp, brain and seeds of our pumpkin.
We looked at, touched, tasted, listened to, and smelled our pumpkin.
We measured the pumpkin's seeds. They were about 1.5 centimeters long!
We documented our findings.
(7 year old's observations)
(3 year old's observations. He insisted the pumpkin tasted sour and salty.)
We scooped the seeds out of the brains of our pumpkin.
We swung some of the pumpkin seeds from the fibrous, stringy brains!
Lastly, we labeled our pumpkin parts on paper. We had lots of fun learning about our pumpkin!
Thanks to 2TeachingMommies2011 for the wonderful worksheets to go with our pumpkin dissection!
