Bible Study:
We reviewed our verses from the past few weeks. T recalled them very well with just a little prompting! On Friday we studied Matthew 25:31-46.
We discussed this passage for quite a while, but here was the end of our conversation:
Mommy: "Christians need to be different from the world. When we show the love of Jesus, it shows that we love Jesus."
T: "I get it. When we help OTHER people, we are doing it for Jesus. When I get older, I'll understand that."

Science:
Did you know in 1870 there were 5.5 million bison (American buffalo) in America? 15 years later there were only 1500. We learned about bison and other bovids, like deer and moose.
We learned about vultures and how drafts of warm air help to lift them into the sky. We got an idea of how they fly by bending an index card and blowing under it. It was pretty cool to see it glide!
We also learned the parts of a bird's body and about birds that hunt, like the eagle.
~~~~~~~~~
History/Geography:
We practiced singing "America the Beautiful"
We learned how pioneers traveled in covered wagons and the hardships they faced.
The pioneers crossed the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers as they traveled West. We located these rivers on a map.
Did you know they took the wheels off the wagons to cross rivers and the wagons floated like boats?
God sent two friendly Indians to help the pioneers when they lost their trail in the mountains!
We added "Oregon Trail" to our timeline.
Artistic Expression:
T's interpretation of mountains and their layers.
Math:
Lots of review this week. We are multiplying and dividing by fives.
~~~~~~~~~
Language Arts:
We finished over half our CLE workbooks. Mommy decided on lighter work this week, so we are using Rod and Staff English 2 and working on answering questions using the same words that are asked.
Where is the dog?
The dog is in the doghouse.
We are also working on past and present tense.
~~~~~~~~~
Storytime:
We have been reading from the genre realistic fiction.
This is a great book. T and I pretended to be blind like the boy in the book. He was taught how to walk around his house holding his right arm down, palm out and putting his left arm at his chest for protection. He had to learn how to locate things in his house by pretending he is the center of a clock. We stood in the middle of our living room and learned the windows are at 12:00. The TV is at 1:00. The pocket doors are at 3:00. The big comfy chair is at 4-5:00. The entry to the dining room is at 6:00. The sofa is at 9:00.
Spelling:
We focused on words with 'oi' and 'oy'. We tried to remember oi comes in the middle of a word while oy comes at the end of a word.
T scored 100% on her spelling test at the end of the week.
