Bible verse:

Deuteronomy 5:16
Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

We have talked a lot this week about what it means to be obedient and that it pleases God when you honor your parents.  When you are obedient to your parents, you are obeying God.

History:

We loved learning about flatboats and added that to our timeline.

Artistic Expression:
T made a hornbook similar to what the young pioneer children would use to learn their alphabet in school.

Math:

We continue with Abeka grade 2.  T is learning multiplication x5.

T scored a 97% on her math test this week, although Mommy doesn't count scores really at all.  It's nice to see how much we remember.  Sometimes we make little mistakes like forgetting to check our work.  We are working on that. :)

Science:

God made the moon!  God made the fruit trees and all its parts!

We learned a lot about both this week.

T's interpretation of a fruit tree and all its parts:"  roots, stem (trunk), branches, crown, flowers and fruit.

Poetry/Copywork:

We misspell here and there, but Mommy is happy with more careful work. :)

Geography:

We followed a pioneer family from Massachusetts to the west.

Reading:

T is reading Animal Adventures, A Little House Chapter Book.

This particular part of the book went really well with our Bible verse.

For storytime, we finished up The House at Pooh Corner then on Friday we introduced the genre "realistic fiction".  We started our new read aloud - Follow My Leader.
